Nechromancer is the brainspawn of Vile 'Heathen' Marceline, a producer and recording artist based in Burlington, Vermont.
Vile formed Nechromancer in 2014 with Vetica, Wreythe and Johan. Hailing from different musical backgrounds, the four established musicians ventured into unfamiliar territory to build a live industrial apparatus called Nechromancer. As can be heard on the debut full-length, Intersect, the beginnings of the band involved experimentation other styles including darkwave, synthpop, and gothic metal. Their shows featured live drums, guitars, and multiple keyboards, with little to no backtracking, for a looser, oldschool energy.
By the time their second album, Monochrome Dystopia, dropped, their sound had evolved into a tighter and more mechanical industrial/EBM sound. Not long after, the four agreed it was time to focus on their own individual projects, opening a new chapter for Nechromancer as the solo project it is today.
Nechromancer’s name describes a triumvirate of inspiration: ‘chromatic’ as color theory—seen in the vibrancy of their light shows and art direction, and ‘chromatic’ as music theory—symbolic of leaving the confines of musical boundaries, and of course, inspiration from the necromantic macabre. Through this, Nechromancer delivers passionate compositions of heavy, guitar-driven industrial dance music infused with harmony and melody, brought (back) to life with explosive stage performances. You can see Nechromancer perform around the Northeast US and Canada, and can hear their latest music on Spotify, Bandcamp, and wherever else digital music can be heard.
